I have made pita pizzas a hundred times but this time I thought I would try a new variation. Instead of piling the toppings on top of the pita, I put them inside! It was an awesome low-point quick lunch.
1 Serving/4 Pts.
1 Alternative Pita (Made by Western Bagel)
Veggies of choice
1 1/2 T jarred pizza sauce (I used Trader Joes)
1 1/2 oz. shredded mozzarella
Cut pita in half. Open and fill with sauce, veggies and half of the cheese in each side. Place halves on baking sheet, spray with olive oil spray (optional) and bake till cheese is melted.
Great fast lunch alternative to a sandwich!
Yum! I have bought Alternative Bagels but not the pitas. I hope I can find them.
ReplyDeleteHere's my favorite pita pizza toppings: cubed, cooked chicken, 1/2 diced tomato, 1 tsp. capers, 7 black olives, sliced, 1 clove garlic, a dash of basalmic vinegar and season with Italian seasoning. I use Fat Free Mozzerlla and top with a little bit of fresh grated parmesan. TONS of flavor and well balanced with good fats, protein and carbs.
I need to get my weight loss mojo back. I hope you don't mind if I follow this blog for new ideas.
