Feed the Hungry by Losing Weight

For all you people out there who are actively losing weight, why not kill two birds with one stone?

General Mills has teamed up with NBC’s The Biggest Loser and Feeding America to encourage people to get fit and feed the hungry. You can pledge to lose weight at PFPChallenge.com and for every pound lost, General Mills will donate 10 cents, equivalent to one pound of groceries, to a local food bank based on the ZIP codes of participants.

The Pound For Pound Challenge gives Americans the opportunity to assist in hunger relief and help families in their neighborhoods by simply pledging to lose weight and get healthy.

I thinks its funny, ironic, and hypercritical that General Mills, who make foods that have no nutritional value and lead to weight gain, is sponsoring this. Talk about a PR stunt!

Or they could not do it at all. Hunger has been a big issue to me, so I'm okay with this. PR stunt? Probably. But hopefully with some real benefits to go along with it.

I think giving is never bad, even if it is just a way to advertise.
